We managed to get the Tesla in and out of Indiana, PA this weekend. The trip was uneventful really from a car perspective. We had a nice visit with family to celebrate the life of Susan’s uncle who lost his battle with cancer several months ago when it really wasn’t a good time to gather due to COVID.
We needed to stop in Breezewood going both directions for a supercharge stop. On the way in, we stopped for 13 minutes of charge to get just enough juice to get into Indiana. While in town, we got a little charge at the hotel overnight and left the car a few hours at another hotel (same chain), that had a level 2 charger. We left town with a little more than 60% charge….hit 81% in Breezewood (that was a bit longer stop…35 minutes, but we had to grab dinner too) and arrived home with 7% left. I slowed down from 80 to 75-78 the last hour or so just to make sure we had enough to get home. I contemplated a quick stop at Denver PA rest stop but decided to just slow down a little instead. Overall, it was easy and low stress to do this and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
The only mistake I made was not booking a hotel early to be at the one that had the Tesla chargers. It made logistics working with family to get it over to the chargers a little more complicated but not too bad.
